Overview of Masai Mara.
The Masai Mara is regarded as the jewel of Kenya’s wildlife viewing areas. It is globally famous for its exceptional population of Masai lions, African leopards and Tanzanian cheetahs, and the annual migration of zebra, Thomson’s gazelle, and wildebeest into Kenya Masai Mara and from the Serengeti every year from July to October, known as the Great Migration.
It is contiguous with the Serengeti National Park in Mara Region, Tanzania. It is named in honor of the Maasai people (the ancestral inhabitants of the area) and their description of the area when looked at from afar: “Mara,” which is Maa (Maasai language) for “spotted,” an apt description for the circles of trees, scrub, savanna, and cloud shadows that mark the area.
Lake Nakuru National park on the other side is a small Park located in the floor of Rift Valley but known worldwide for its high numbers of Fuschia pink flamingoes and other species of water birds. Apart from birding the park also hosts a variety of wildlife such as Rhinos, buffalos, baboons, lions, leopard, cheetah and others. Only elephant is a notable absentee from this park due to its size. Just two hours’ drive from Nairobi, Lake Nakuru is among Kenya’s finest national parks. Flanked by rocky escarpments, pockets of forest and at least one waterfall, the park is gorgeous year-round and is home to both black and white rhinos, lions, leopards, hippos and giraffes.
Rising water levels have forced the park’s famous flamingos to flee, as well as the park authorities to move the entrance gate – the old one now stands submerged by the lake along with hundreds of now-dead trees, creating a fairly haunting first impression. The southern end of the lake is the best place to see wildlife, away from the busy city of Nakuru, which border’s the park’s northern extent. The forested area below Flamingo Hill is a favorite lion-spotting point – lionesses love to sleep in the trees – while leopards frequent the same area, and are also seen around Makolia camp.
Lake Nakuru is one of the Rift Valley soda lakes at an elevation of 1754 m above sea level. It lies to the south of Nakuru, in the Rift Valley of Kenya and is protected by Lake Nakuru National Park.

YHA Kenya Travel 4 Days Nakuru National Park & Masai Mara Adventure Safari.
DAY ONE: NAIROBI - LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK.
Our driver will pick up from your Nairobi hotel or airport early in the morning depart Nairobi and drive through the Great Rift Valley viewing scenery escarpment en-route. You will arrive with time for game drive proceeding to your lodge or camp for check inn and have lunch. Afternoon game drive across the Pink Lake often referred so due to its Great masses of Flamingos not forgetting the famous white Rhino and black rhino found in this park. Dinner and overnight at lodge or camp.
Main destination: Lake Nakuru National Park
Accommodation: Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge (A facility that overlooks Lake Nakuru and surrounding National Park.

DAY TWO: EXPLORE LAKE NAKURU - MASAI MARA NATIONAL GAME RESERVE.
After early morning breakfast, you will proceed for a morning game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park known for its millions of flamingos and other water birds. This is one of the parks in Kenya where you will be able to see black and white rhinos. Thereafter you leave Lake Nakuru for Masai Mara. On this day we shall have lunch at Narok town before proceeding to Masai Mara. We will check in at our lodge / campsite followed by late evening game drive then return to campsite for dinner and overnight.
Main destination: Masai Mara National Game Reserve.
Accommodation: Mara Sopa Lodge (The facility borders Mara Reserve)

DAY THREE: EXPLORE MASAI MARA FULL DAY.
Full day game viewing in search of black manned lion, elephant, leopard and cheetah, buffalo and other plains game not forgetting the chance of seeing the wildebeest migration, with optional early morning hot air balloon ride. All meals will be served and overnight at lodge / campsite.
Main destination: Masai Mara National Game Reserve.
Accommodation: Mara Sopa Lodge (The facility borders Mara Reserve)

DAY FOUR: MASAI MARA – NAIROBI.
Early morning game drive followed by breakfast with optional visit to Masai cultural village en route as you depart for Nairobi with a stopover at the Great Rift Valley to admire the Scenic beauty of the Escarpments before you proceed to Nairobi where you will arrive in time to be dropped off either at your hotel or airport with sweet memories. End of tour.
